If we are to attempt to reconnect with the environments that surround us, we need to re-evaluate our relationships with the world: be accepting of change, relinquish power and willingly step into uncertainty. We need to fall in love.
My art practice is intrinsically entwined with my exploration of the Somerset landscape; it’s the result of the intense observation of colour, light and space. Through my constant gazing, wandering and contemplating, I’m driven to capture the intimacy between me and my surroundings. It’s about processing my experience of the environments around me and considering my relationship with the world.
Through my work I examine contradictions, as methods of finding connections, during times of change. Moments of meeting where; emotions meet senses, light meets dark, soft meets sharp, dynamic meets constant, past meets future. It’s about welcoming the complexities of opposites and finding resolve in the dynamism of human experience.
